Are you aware of creative problem-solving?
Creative problem-solving means using your mind’s creativity to develop a unique and innovative solution to your problem. Creative problem solving requires utilizing the creativity of your mind coupled with knowledge and thinking.
To get a creative solution, first, you should generate lots of options and then evaluate them to make a single decision.
Steps you should follow to get a creative solution:
- Clarify: This is a crucial first step because, in this phase, you search about your problem. What is the issue? Is it an issue or just thinking of the mind? Gather data about it.
- Ideate: This is the second stage of creative problem-solving. Try to explore ideas, choose your creativity to get something out of old ideas, and rearrange them to get an innovative solution.
- Develop: In this stage, you begin to evaluate your possible options and come up with a solution. Check out whether the solution meets your criteria or not and decide you will implement them.
- Implement: At last, when you have chosen the best solution, it’s time to make a plan of action and implement your chosen answer.
Steps to identify mental blocks
- Choose a task or problem.
- Try to think about it in a fixed time.
- You will then face some obstacles while working on that problem that is known as a mental block.
Mental blocks are a barrier to Creative problem-solving
When you are suffering from an inability to recall things, there is a mental block. Mental blocks are barriers to find a creative solution to a problem. Here are some mental blocks which hinder creative problem-solving.
- Thinking that you are not creative: Face the unknown. Many people are afraid to discover something innovative or new about themselves. They do not want to come out by breaking their shell, which restricts their imagination and thinking.
- Afraid to make a wrong decision: Many people are so scared of making a decision. They think their decision is bad. So they won’t show up with any decision.
- Following rules: Sometimes, following rules or working in limit blocks your imagination and thinking.
- Being practical all the time: Acting or thinking practical all the time does not work. Sometimes you have to step out of your bubble to get answers to some questions.
- Logical thinking: Looking for logic in every aspect is another mental blocker in creative problem-solving.
- Trying to find the correct answer: Another mental block is to always strive for the correct answer. Sometimes coming up with a solution is good doesn’t matter whether it’s right or wrong.
How to get over mental blocks?
- Complete small tasks first: Whenever you are stuck in between something, try to tackle smaller tasks first. Take a break for some time and arrange tasks according to their duration and importance. Start from the smallest and then move towards more significant tasks or problems.
- Take a step backward: Taking a step back doesn’t mean your failure or running back. Sometimes taking a step back helps you gain clarity and look for a root cause of the block. It will enable you to think about how you can move forward more efficiently and creatively.
- Change your environment: Keep changing your surroundings from time to time. Sometimes a change in environment refreshes the mind, which will enhance the reason to come up with new innovative ideas for your task. Whenever you get stuck, go out, have a break or go to some coffee shop or enjoy nature. Have peace of mind and forget about your mental blocks.
- Research and analysis: When you get stuck with some mental block, try to look for its solution outside for some time. As try to search on the internet that how other people dealt with this issue? What did they do to end this problem? How their ideas worked out? And then slowly create your idea by catching up with these ideas you found online.
- Revisit the old times: Remember when you faced the same kind of barrier and think about the things you did to overcome that barrier. It will give you positive energy to fight again and to find a solution to your problem.
Getting over mental blocks increases the ability to creative problem-solving. Sometimes the problem is not that much big as we thought. Sometimes thinking in our minds make it worse. Do not overthink about every think. Just let it go.
